Today, I’m excited to introduce a transformative tool I’ve developed called the Purpose Template. This template isn’t just a guideline—it’s a reflection of how intentional God was when he created us. When God created us, he gave us a name, instructions on how to live, a purpose/assignment, and the anointing to do what he’s called us to do. Let’s look at this template in detail.
1. God Gives You A Name
In scripture, we see that names hold significant power and meaning. For instance, Genesis 17 tells the story of God giving new names to Abraham and Sarah, marking pivotal changes in their lives. Names are more than labels; they are prophetic declarations over our lives. Consider my name, Melissa, which means “Honey Bee.” It symbolizes diligence and sweetness, traits that I strive to embody. Even my name, Mel, a name given by God means “mail” or “messenger.” This aligns with my role as a prophet of God or God’s messenger, a powerful reminder every time someone calls my name.
2. Living Instructions
While I hold my specific instructions close to my heart, each of us must seek and understand the unique directives God has for our lives. These instructions often guide what we should do—and what we should avoid—to remain true to our calling. For me, a lifestyle of prayer is non-negotiable; it’s the foundation of my daily walk and service.
3. A Purpose to Fulfill
God doesn’t just call us to be; He calls us to do. My purpose involves speaking God’s words and releasing His plans in various spheres, including ministry and business. This calling is not just about speaking but about bringing breakthroughs wherever I go. For each of us, understanding our purpose is crucial, and it requires constant communication with God to ensure we are aligned with His will.
4. The Anointing
With our purposes identified, God doesn’t leave us to manage on our own. He anoints and equips us, just as He did with the prophets and leaders in the Bible. This anointing empowers us to accomplish extraordinary things in seemingly ordinary settings.
Purpose Reimagined Series
As part of our journey to understand our purpose, I’ve launched a series titled “Purpose Reimagined.” This series is a clarion call to rethink what purpose truly means in our lives. Though we are just beginning, it has already touched many, including myself. It’s a reminder that now, more than ever, we need to live out our purposes boldly. The days are indeed challenging, but as children of light, we are called to shine and spread the gospel fervently.
I encourage everyone, whether you’re still seeking your purpose or you believe you’re living it, to consider the Purpose Template. Use it as a reflective tool, not a rulebook. Pray over it, and seek God’s affirmation or redirection regarding your path.
